31 Days {Day 4} Flowers

Today's baby step is one of my favorites!  Nothing makes a house feel more fresh (besides cleaning from top to bottom) than fresh flowers in the house. I just love fresh flowers!

Wait.

Now, I realize I am going to need to clarify here.  I love fresh FREE or CHEAP flowers.  I feel like I can enjoy them more when they didn't cost a fortune.  It's like I found a little treasure and brought it in to my house.

Sometimes, one of the ways I treat myself and buy a $5 bouquet from Walmart.

Most of the time though, I just get the flowers from my backyard, or friends yards.

Every spring, I get so excited when the rhododendron and forsythia blooms and the daffodils and tulip burst out of the ground.

Summer brings my favorites, hydrangeas, and they are so easy to arrange!

Who says sticks can't be beautiful? Spray paint them a bright color, or just stick them in a jar and see if you like it!  I've change my mantle several times, but the sticks always seem to stay.

To make flowers really pop, stay away from the plane old vases, and find something unique to use.   The bright blue bottles in several of the pictures above are milk of magnesia bottles that we dug out of the woods.  If you use a lot of little vases, arranging the flowers is a breeze.

Bringing fresh flowers in is a simple way to appreciate God's beauty, and another baby step to loving your home.

Note: If this post interest you make sure to check out this post the Nester wrote last year about natural Christmas decorating.
